How to find the place

It is a county road and the numbers run down as you go, so here it is the way you would actually be told it.

  • 1From town, start at the First United Methodist Church on the corner of W 1st Street — the red brick one across from the Yesway.
  • 2Head out past the church and past the nursing home. That is the road.
  • 3Keep going out County Road 270, toward Dublin. Call it two and a half miles.
  • 4You are looking for 9890, on the left — directly across from the old Smith place. The two driveways very nearly meet.
  • 5If you cross the Golightly Bridge, you have gone about a mile too far. Turn around.

Ring before you drive out. What is down, what is dry and what is still standing changes week to week, and Derek would rather tell you on the phone than have you make the trip for nothing.

Hay is one of the few things left where you can still look at it, smell it, and know.

Come take a look.
